FAQ
HOW LONG ARE YOUR SEASONING BLENDS GOOD FOR?
Dried herbs and spices have a delightfully long shelf life, so you can expect to be able to use a blend for up to three years after the mix date (see the sticker on the bottom of the jar for this.) That said, our blends taste the freshest if consumed within the first year from the date of purchase.
Luckily, most people tend to go through our blends faster than other brands you would find in a grocery store. Why? Because of the fact that our seasonings always contain no salt. The more you sprinkle, the more flavor you get without any extra unwanted saltiness. So don't be afraid to season with these more generously than you normally would!
Are your seasoning blends organic and non-gmo?
While we wish we could say 100% yes, this is unfortunately not the case - yet! Due to the fact that we are a very small, brand-new business operating under cottage law, it has been challenging to source all of our ingredients from the same companies all the time. Things go out of stock, certain ingredients are harder to source than others, and there are a handful of things that we have been unable to source organically so far.

That said, we select the highest quality products that we can find at any given time, and the vast majority of them are organic, which also means they are non-GMO. Approximately 85-100% of each blend is organic, depending on where we have sourced our ingredients from for that batch.

We currently source the majority of our ingredients from Essential Organics and Starwest Botanicals.

It is our goal to become 100% organic and non-GMO, once we have grown and become more established and can find more consistent sources for our products. Your continued support helps us to reach that goal sooner!
ARE YOUR SEASONING BLENDS GLUTEN FREE? WHAT ABOUT OTHER ALLERGENS?
We do not add any fillers to our spice blends, therefore they are naturally gluten free. All of our blends are ground and mixed on equipment that is not shared with any other major allergens.
Unfortunately, at the moment, we cannot guarantee that the original ingredients (spices, powders, and herbs, prior to our blending them) have not been processed on shared equipment. That is why we have the warning on our labels.

We take tremendous care and pride in making our blends as accessible as we can. However, if you are extremely allergic or sensitive to products made on shared equipment, we recommend that you do not consume our blends.

Looking to the future, it is our goal to be able to source our ingredients from places that we can guarantee have not been processed on shared equipment, so keep an eye out as we continue to grow!
WHY DO SOME OF MY BLENDS CLUMP MORE THAN OTHERS?
Yes, clumping can be annoying at times, but we view it as more of a feature, than a bug. Let us explain.
We made a decision very early on to not use anti-caking agents in our blends, because we believe that you deserve the purest ingredients possible. Other than preventing clumping, many of these fillers offer no benefits, and no flavor. On the contrary, they can often be cheap, unhealthy additives.
Sometimes certain ingredients can make some of our blends tend to clump a little more than others. And if any moisture gets in your spices (for example, steam from a simmering pot that you are adding spices to) it can sometimes cause the blend to clump. Luckily, this is easily remedied.

Simply pop the clear plastic fitment (interior lid) off the top of the jar. Then take a butter knife or other small utensil and press it down to the bottom of the jar, gently mashing against the sides of the jar, to push the clumps apart. Voila! It's like new.
I NOTICED SOME OF MY JARS HAVE DIFFERENT INTERIOR LIDS - IS THIS ON PURPOSE?
Yes! There is a method to our madness.
Those interior lids are called fitments, and we have two different kinds that we use on our spice jars.

You will find fitment A (with the large, circular holes) on all of our blends that are intended to be used more generously. We make it easier for you to quickly get a lot of flavor from just a few shakes. There's nothing more annoying than having to shake a jar repeatedly just to get a tiny bit of spice out.

You will find fitment B (with the small, square holes and additional pop-up opening) on all of our blends that are meant to be used a little more sparingly (so that it's less easy for you to accidentally pour too much on at once.) That said, if you are making a larger batch of something, or are simply wanting to use a lot more, you can pop open that side tab and pour out as much as you need.

Don't like a certain fitment for the blends you are using? Just ask us for additional fitments in the kind that you prefer - we'll be happy to provide it for you.
ARE YOU PLANNING ON OFFERING REFILLS FOR YOUR JARS?
Yes! This is still a work in progress, but we are planning on offering jar refills in the near future, in two sizes: 2 oz (single jar refill) and 4 oz (two jar refill, for those of you that go through your blends as fast as we do in our home kitchen!)

The labels on our jars are waterproof, so that you can clean your emptied jars and refill as often as you'd like.

This has the benefit of being more environmentally friendly (the refill bags and labels are compostable, just like our sample size bags). In addition, we are able to offer the refills for slightly discounted prices, since the bags do not cost as much as the glass jars and waterproof labels, and we are able to pass those savings on to you.
